About energyfaculty

What
energyfaculty.com is a source for finding and exploring information related to energy.
You will find narratives describing processes and how things work, formulas, energy data and tools performing automated energy calculations.

The purpose of energyfaculty.com is to contribute to increased knowledge and learning related to energy by providing information, data, formulas and tools such that you may make your own considerations and perform calculations.

Our mission is to provide free online learning, energy facts and data

Why
Since energy, energy supply and energy usage already is and even more so in the future will be subject to major challenges, a lot of debate and controversy, we wanted to create an unbiased source of energy facts covering a broad spectrum of topics.

Even if most of us, to a large degree have to rely on what scientists and other experts are telling us we at energyfaculty, believe that we all will benefit from having some background information on how things work and basic understanding of the underlying physics to be better positioned for making up our own minds and making our own decisions when dealing with energy related challenges. This concern our own choices in respect of domestic energy usage as well as the overall strategies and remedies proposed or decided by the policy makers.

For whom

  • The student
  • The teacher
  • The professional
  • The expert
  • The policymaker
  • The advisor
  • All interested in energy matters

How
energyfaculty.com may be used various ways. You can use it as a textbook going through all the chapters or going to the ones that are most interesting for you. You can use it as an encyclopedia, going straight to the information you are looking for, using the search function on the right hand side of all pages or via the menus. You can use it as a glossary going straight to the glossary section.

The content menu takes you into the narratives providing information about processes and how things work including relevant data and examples of calculations. This section is divided into eight main chapters:

  • Introduction
  • Forms of energy
  • Energy sources
  • Energy generation and production
  • Energy distribution and utilisation
  • Oil and gas – Hydrocarbons
  • Other fuels
  • Substance turnover

The “Tables and charts” section contains data tables divided into nine data table sections and three chart sections:

Tables

  • Forms of energy & energy carriers
  • Physical and thermal properties (for fuels)
  • Hydrogen – energy
  • Batteries & Fuel cells
  • Wind energy
  • Carbon cycle – Carbon reservoir
  • Electrical consumption statistics
  • Periodic table

Charts

  • Primary energy consumption
  • Primary energy production
  • Carbon dioxide emissions

The “Formulas” section contains relevant formulas for performing energy related calculations and is divided into three main sections:

  • Formulas – Energy
  • Formulas – Power and processes
  • Formulas – Photosynthesis

The “Calculators” section currently contains calculators that perform automated calculations related to combustion of various fuels, kinetic energy and wind turbine power.

The “unit converters” section contain energy related unit converters.

At energyfaculty.com we will do our very best to provide facts, if we, however, from time to time find it necessary to provide opinion based information or if there are uncertainties connected to the information provided, this will be clearly stated.
